The Battlefield series has already had games with stories in the past, present and future, so it is very unlikely that there is anything that could surprise us. Therefore we know that a return to one of those realities will happen in a new release of the game, probably planned for the fall of 2018. According to one YouTuber’s information, DICE will return to Bad Company and (relatively) modern warfare.

These unsubstantiated rumors are so far coming from a YouTuber AlmightyDaq, the same one who had extracted pretty much accurate information about Battlefield 1 before the said game was discovered three months later. AlmightyDaq now claims that Bad Company 3 will be the next Battlefield game and will be located in a slightly wider era that includes the Vietnam War and the Cold War. According to his source, the game will not be historically accurate or precise, just like Battlefield 1 was not.

With the standard multiplayer component we can expect a singleplayer campaign as well. In the multiplayer, the battles will be focused on smaller maps and we can expect at least one new 5V5 mode, similar to Obliteration in Battlefield 4. The announcement of the game should be on the E3 next year.

These are all speculations and unconfirmed information so far, so they should not be taken as a done deal.
