First, the good news: the next game in the Dragon Age series is definitely in development. The news was confirmed by BioWare‘s Mark Darrah, who has the role of the executive producer of the game. But he has got the same role in another project, a game we know under the name Anthem. However, just half a year ago it was not like that because Darrah said he had nothing to do with Anthem.
Unfortunately there is some bad news, too, according to a report from a gaming portal Kotaku, Darrah’s post-engagement is a possible indication that Anthem is in trouble. Sources say that this game definitely will not be released at the end of 2018 as previously announced. According to one developer, the BioWare team is under pressure considering that the new IP is in question here, but also their first multiplayer-oriented game.
The pressure is, ultimately, also at Electronic Arts, which last year gained the reputation of the villain with disappointing games such as Mass Effect: Andromeda, Star Wars: Battlefront II and Need for Speed: Payback. If Anthem does not start well, it is doubtful that BioWare will avoid the destiny shared by many other teams under Electronic Arts.
