I have always been of the impression that the Civilization is one of those games where everyone can enjoy, and then I recently found out that I am practically the only one in the newsroom really excited about new Civilization 6 because i’ve been playing it for a long time. It’s completely changed my view of the series and I began to notice all the little things that are completely obvious to me, but to someone who has no idea about the game it has no reason to be. Therefore, after I spent a few hours with sixes in Warsaw I was not sure how such profound Civilization game is so far accessible to new players, but now I can safely say that the best continuation for new and old players.

Even though it would be expected that each new game in the series will make significant progress, it is not exactly how it goes, and the same is true in this game. When you think about four thousand years ago the ancient Egyptians worshiped cats, but today we as modern cosmopolitans do much the same thing only on the Internet and well, most of us don’t have slaves. So we did not progress much in order to earn some big changes, but whenever Civilization tried to predict the future and our progress as the Beyond Earth experiment, that did not go so well.

Civilization 6 is therefore moving ahead small but sure steps and is approaching analytically to the evolution of the series. Collects all the elements of previous games and then apply their advantages and disadvantages to put together a coherent whole. What I can not stop pointing out is the connection between the various systems and mechanics that were in previous game separated as a special base gameplay. This is in my opinion what makes a six most detailed, but also a good game for beginners which on well-systematized way can learn all the mechanics – the most complex by the content, but presented as the easiest.

Every nation has its own peculiarities and preferences which should give them a recognizable character and nature. Fortunately, this is only on paper, since otherwise the game would be pretty boring. Yes, the Egyptians will ridicule and public underestimate you if you have too little army, Caesar will be angry if you have a better foreign policy than him, and the English will envy your culture. But these are only the messages you receive during the game and do not have a significant impact on the state of the world. It’s a good thing because the AI is already sufficiently predictable and tends to make stupid decisions, and increase of the difficulty does not make them smarter, but only begin to cheat on resources, which is a bit frustrating.

Every game that I had, neighbors would ask some inviolable requirements, would have multiplied the army, then would refuse my diplomatic offers and post “sudden” war – every single game. Fortunately, the new rumor system is totally exploitative and if you send your representatives to each new people who you meet, you will receive rumors about what is happening in their country. You maintain relations on the similar way with Polis around which is the fight tense enough because of the new bonuses that they carry. Even more information is supplied by a well-networked trade routes, and most of sending spies, although it is reserved for the later stages of the party.

Fortunately, even if your opponents attack so inevitably, warfare is quite interesting although a bit too easy. The system is almost the same as in the previous game, except that you can influence it with the state organization. Before the fight was always conditioned by science but if you investigate gunpowder, and your opponent is still trying to figure out the math, it was clear that your gunsmiths and cannons will smite all their prehistoric men equipped with slingshots. It has made the science too important to have it ignored and devote to culture or religion and had put the cultural players at the mercy of science.

So this is the deepest and most complex Civilization game so far, but it is so good and complex that this is the right time to jump into it if you were ever attracted by the idea, but refused to play because of the performance of the game.
