More than two million players owned PlayStation VR at the end of 2017. Although this does not seem like a big deal compared to the 70 million users of the PS4 console, Sony believes that this is quite a sufficient amount of audience for developers to become more seriously interested in that platform. Based on this, in 2018 they expect the PlayStation VR catalog to grow by as much as 80%.
More specifically, Sony hopes that around 130 games will be released for PlayStation VR in 2018. So far, about sixty pieces have been announced, and the offer is made up of indie titles and several Sony experiments. There is currently no announced VR game prepared by some top studio, so it remains to be seen whether this offer will suffice for the growth of the player base or PS VR will remain in the current number of users.
