I’m pretty sure I have already discussed in at least one text the comparison of new games with Dark Souls series, probably in a review Salt & Sanctuary. I understand the comparison of games if they have some similarities, and I think it’s very useful discussion. But I’m afraid I call Nioh “Dark Souls in Japan” and similar names, like those of the Internet slowly filled and it is not at all helpful for this title. The most important – Nioh did not like Dark Souls, but more importantly from the most important thing is to play good enough to stand on its own and its quality, without pulling parallel.

Although, I will tell this as someone who likes challenging game with very precise controls that must be overcome, battles to be practice and study, and loot system by which needs a lot of tinkering. All the above characteristics for years kept my interest in many games and Nioh thus neatly puts tabs on my gaming shopping list. But consequently, Nioh is not a game for everyone. Seriously, if you are not drooling for the above-mentioned things, then there is a chance that the Nioh is not what you have to look for, because the game offers a very clear rules and not so much out of them.

Developers are warning us that their game is not for everyone and does not intend to skimp on the players, and have experience with the brutal Ninja Gaiden series. They were not kidding and it can be easily checked. Each enemy has a chance to kill you with one or two combinations of punches if overly relax. In addition, they do not go down easily but should be carefull finding a hole in their defense and when attacking it’s necessary to be careful not to leave space for counter-attack.

But not every encounter with opponents is adventures tango as it might sound. You are fully equipped to run over most opponents to the main boss level, so if you get your hands on weapons, with which you are skilled and fight with several opponents at once could become recreation. That’s why I’m not happy with the way the opponents furnished the level. Every so often you will find yourself in a difficult situation and are likely to die, but most of the time, at least in the main missions, you can go almost the entire level in one breath until you reach the boss. I’d love to see more often struggle with multiple types of opponents at once in various combinations, so that we as players are forced to use its huge arsenal that we have available.

Consider just five types of main weapons with radical differences that can be used in three different styles with at least three to five, if not more skills that you can unlock. Then it add three bows and arrows, guns and cannons as options for distance learning, and equipment such as bombs, drugs and stimulants that you prepare in advance and above all consumables which find or buy. The option is on the pile, and each choice has a satisfactorily low system improvement and at least for now all seems pretty balanced.

If you’re like me, most games will go only with similar equipment and sometimes a little short on change just because different weapons at least for a completely changed the game. This at least immediately says that the game is fair in their challenges and can be pure skill hook in situations that are not ideal for your gameplay. For me personally this is the strongest side of Nioh, generally the wow-effect when you first play or try out new weapons and feel how the controls are precise and sturdy combat system is. For someone who loves mechanical precision games this address should be part of the mandatory literature.

Nioh has a lot to offer and can depress dangerously long time in the game. A bunch of content that helps you is placed on the border of several highly contagious genres with a unique approach. I will repeat once again – this is not a game for everyone, but if something in this text aroused you, Nioh hides a lot of pleasure.
