Remote conflicts in fifty or more meters in Arma 3 Apex expansion have been replaced by close encounters where it is not necessary to wear optics to watch each other. Unlike the previous map Stratis and Altis and abundant open spaces, the new environment of the islands Tanoa puts us in a different position on the battlefield with lush vegetation. One who was not too thrilled with the Mediterranean atmosphere, which was presented in the original, could be pleasantly surprised by the change of the environment since it is just Tanoa main “character” complete expansion.

Through the first entry in the campaign, you may notice certain changes that suggest enabled cooperative transition with a classic self-experience perforating the Tanoa. Of course, the production side did not suffer, however, act can be traced without problems thanks to animations and military speech through the presentation of the task. But the core of the campaign is now focused on group playing. Specifically, more accurate description would be – tension that was presented during independent gaming is much smaller now when death means new setting point and 30 seconds wait before our soldier again stands on its feet.

Not everybody will like this change, but it shows how the campaign is actually in the service of a tourist guide because it introduces new locations around the islands through seven missions. By doing so, the missions are also “straight-lined” because each consists of several tasks that are not scattered in a wider area so you won’t have that feeling of total freedom that could have been seen in previous missions. Campaign is actually a tourist guide throughout new locations, but that does not mean the tour is boring.

Special praise may be made to developers as “casual” part of the Apex is completely free to all owners of Arme 3 as it comes with technical improvements. It’s not just about graphics, although it should be noted that the new system of lighting and fog is fully evident in the Tanoa. Nice to see a developer with a new paid content and further improvements in the core of the game, but it is somehow expected of Bohemia, which is known for.

With Arma 3 we’ve seen how things in the gaming industry are changing because since then, we have never had a campaign that came later in the form of three free chapters. One can discuss how this approach is good for long-term path, but it is a fact that Arma series always had a special type of fans, where a lot of them are interested in enriching the game with the right things. Apex we will not be remembered for the fantastic campaign, but by the way that is presented, we can only hope that future releases are going to be equal or even better than Tanoa. Even if it is correct and the old diseases in the form of silly bugs that like to randomly appear are fixed; then Arma would no longer be Arma because it provides the whole story with a real contribution to the unpredictability.
